The Naked Emperor

The fact that the Chinese government is a communist government meant that they wanted to control their people and present the people with the things they are suppose to see. However this gets more difficult as time passes, since the availability of internet rapidly grew. Internet is the most open source that allows people to see or hear things that the government may not wanted them to. That is why the Chinese government propaganda themselves as the good ones. For example, “When one congress delegate said she “wept five times” during President Hu Jintao’s opening speech.” The image that the government wanted to convey to the public is the sincerity. However the citizen knew that what they are doing is pretty much “drama” and that none of it is true. Microbloggers even jokes that the congress “wept five times” upon eating a spicy meal. However the government knew about the social changes and so instead of blocking and banning the sites, they instead try to persuade them and talk them out of it.
The important part about this article is the quote “Ordinary people like us all know the emperor is not wearing any clothes. The emperor himself knows that he is naked. He also knows that we know. And yet he still walked out like this.” This showed how ignorant the government can be. They knew that they cannot keep propaganda themselves as the “good people” anymore, and yet they still insist on doing it. It is like a naked emperor who knew he is naked, and yet walked out into the public. I believe that technologies are changing, ideas and thoughts of people are changing, and so should the government be changing. It is like the saying, “Nothing last forever.”
