The intention behind this text by Jonathan Swift is to
reform how Ireland treats the children of the poor people. I agree with the
reasons and proposal that Jonathan made as it is both beneficial to both sides.
Creating a workable labor force in agriculture department or other department
can be very helpful to the government. Also, the minimal payment for these
children could help them have better lives. Children are like innocent white
clean paper. If we color it, draw on it properly, and then we could create
great people for the future generations. I see how children (today’s) that they
have nothing to do or anyone to guide them to an ethical direction. These young
naïve kids wanders around looking for things, taking things that don’t belong
them, becoming criminals. Therefore, if we set a purpose for them, and giving honesty
income, they wouldn’t feel hopeless.
